Starting on September 2021, I was happy that Andrea has taken over as the Head of Women in Entrepreneurship (WiE) project. Instead of early morning breakfast, we decided to host afternoon fika starting on autumn. For this October, the theme of fika discussion would be focused on how to support female founders through community building.

Oct 16th A digital fika with Leslie Alfredsson

We hosted a digital event that highlighted the speaker Leslie Alfredsson, Marketing Manager at SMILE Business Incubator who shared the impact of female entrepreneurs in the innovation ecosystem. She emphasized the need for inclusive language and communication to engage underrepresented groups. Participants stressed the importance of individual action, including overcoming fear and starting one's own company, advocating for inclusivity, and seeking support from community organizations. Leslie discussed the Master Suppression Technique, urging female founders to identify and counter workplace patterns of ignoring women. The participants included:

  • Alexandra Silén is an experienced Business Developer with a passion for meaningful projects with positive environmental and social impact. She has extensive experience in providing microloans to empower female founders, including 13 years in Mexico.
  • Daniela Luque is a versatile professional with a multicultural background and a strong track record in project management. She holds a Masters in Public Relations and Retail & Distribution Business Management and is currently pursuing an MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Lund University.
  • Ellyne Phneah is a passionate professional with a diverse background encompassing journalism, public relations, integrated marketing communications, and partnerships. She has worked with technology companies across APAC, Europe, and North America.
  • Joy Ong is a Healthcare Administration Scholar driving new healthcare delivery models, forging strategic relationships, and transforming healthcare financing. Her expertise lies at the intersection of environment, health, and society.
  • Lavinia Apicella is a Project Support Officer & Assistant Analyst at SwIdeas AB, specializing in projects related to migration and labor integration, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, active citizenship, and linguistic integration of immigrants.
  • Michelle Dessant is a content creator and video producer known for her popular YouTube channel with over 21K followers. She shares her experiences as a Mexican expat living abroad for 11 years, aiming to help people adapt to new countries and explore the world affordably.

October 25th WIE at The Ground

Mariana Grau, Enrika Miltenyte, Gwendolynn HELOUA, Mariaje (Susi) Murillo Lage joined the fika. The discussion also emphasized the role of a vibrant community in enhancing founder resilience, adaptability, and competitiveness.
